I painted the giant amphibian Eryops megacephalus, known from the Early Permian of Texas and even Late Carboniferous of New Mexico. These carnivores could reach an impressive length of 3 meters.

Urda buechneri is a species of potentially parasitic isopod from the Middle Jurassic of Germany that was described by @mcranium et al. in 2023. The paper that describes U. buechneri also discusses how the genus Urda fits on the isopod family tree and how the associated fossils relate to the extant isopod family Gnathiidae.

New lab at the University of Reading

From 8 January 2024, I will be starting at the University of Reading as Lecturer in Zoology. I haven't technically got a research group or lab as such but I've decided to call my "lab" the Phylogenetic Form and Function Lab (for the time being in any case).
