The right/Republicans feast on outrage like vampires. To not give them an audience by being here feels empowering. I don’t have to expose myself to the horrid takes and cruel policy proposals. However, the policies become laws and people are harmed. How can I be an activist, ally & advocate without feeding the purposeful outrage fixes they so eagerly devour?
Elon Musk just made the world a more hateful, dangerous place. And he’s set Twitter, the world’s town square, on fire. So glad I’m already over here rebuilding a community.
#Twitter #DonaldTrumpI noticed something just now while scrolling Mastodon after having just scrolled Twitter. I found myself smiling, feeling connected, and enjoying the time I spent here. On Twitter my brows were furrowed, stressed, exposed to BS like reinstating Trump polls. I know it’s convoluted here but I’m liking the people I’m running into and what they post. I’m going to check in here more often. It’s actually FUN.
I think the stray cat we’ve been feeding lives with us now. He seems to really dig it under the Christmas tree. Yeah it’s up early, because busy month!
It’s hard to find friends who want an honest answer to “how are you doing?” I know it’s just a casual nicety and I generally treat it as such. But sometimes I am bursting—alone with my thoughts barreling down on me. I want to invite someone into my train wreck and at least laugh with me. They don’t have to fix it or bright-side it or do comparison dismissal (at least it’s not cancer, etc.) or pity me or really anything but exist in my world for a moment and let me into theirs.
I am just not feeling the “business as usual vibe” on
#Twitter anymore. It’s like when someone’s drunk dad comes down to your rec room party and tries to fit in, so all the fun stops and people leave. And no one will ever come to a party at your house again.
