I think the stray cat we’ve been feeding lives with us now. He seems to really dig it under the Christmas tree. Yeah it’s up early, because busy month!

@maureenherman He's a cutie!

This one showed up on our doorstep 2 weeks ago. I got home late one night, and it was curled up in a ball right in front of our front door. I gave her some wet food (we're a cat family), and she was a fan.

We made the decision official yesterday that she's joining the family. Still working on introducing her to the house. A bathroom that we brought her into (temps went from 77F highs to 17F lows in just a few days) is her safe place, still.

@Jaxidian we have the same taste in paper bowls! And you must live in or near the Midwest because here in Illinois that’s exactly how the weather turned. Ours has been coming on and off for a year. Noticed he’d come up whenever I’d go on the porch & smoke (before I quit), so we call him Smoky. Very skittish at first. Now he’s really bonded with us. Will NOT use a litter box and has never done his business anywhere but outside. Kind of tricky to manage time-wise but we’ll see.

@maureenherman hah, yep! Near Indianapolis. We don't usually use disposable bowls but we sold our hours earlier this year and the dishwasher in this rental doesn't work, so we're managing to get by until we find our house to buy.

Our little one, Lily is now her name, appears as though she's been on her own for quite a while but she clearly "knows people" based on how she responded to us (despite not letting us pet her for almost a week). But now when she plays, she's gentle not to bite/scratch.

@maureenherman As you can tell from the photo, we lined the floor with "pee pads" bc we didn't know what to expect. She's used the litter box every time, though! We lucked out, there! Our preference is to keep her inside, like our other kitties who have never been out once. Well, with one exception. Our oldest one kept trying to sneak outside so I let him once. In a downpour. During a thunderstorm. A perfectly timed lightning bolt & thunder happened the second he "snuck outside". That stopped.
@Jaxidian great accidental method of housecatting!
@maureenherman My neighbors recently discovered that there is a stray cat that hangs out with and gets fed by 4 different families.
@corb yeah I’ve wondered about that…there’s no way we’re the only ones.
