ME: The Earth is 71% water
SCIENTIST: Yes. True.
ME: And practically all of that water is uncarbonated
SCIENTIST: Okay, sure. Not sure where you're going with this but
ME: So the Earth is flat
SCIENTIST...
ME: ...
SCIENTIST: Listen here you little shit

This doesn’t surprise me. You don’t own your handle.

It’s still a totally dickheaded move.

Me: Time to get off stuff with algorithms and start using more healthy social media.

Also me: *Spends all day on scrolling the Fediverse and doesn't do anything productive*
#Firefish question: The explore section for posts ("Featured") appears to error everytime on firefish.social, I assume this is the same for everyone?

I am liking Firefish but this is probably the thing bothering me the most.

“We notice you are using an ad blocker…”

Yes, and I notice you are using a few dozen trackers. Turn off the trackers and I will look at your ads. Until then, we are at an impasse.

If you're still using Chrome for performance reasons:
- Firefox is now faster than Chrome out-of-the-box
- Firefox uses less memory than Chrome
- Contrary to Chrome, Firefox does not restrict Ad blockers, which will make your browsing experience much faster (and safer).
⚡ Firefox has outperformed Google Chrome in terms of speed in a recent assessment by Speedometer, a tool that measures a browser's web app responsiveness. This challenges the perception of Firefox as a slower browser.

I feel like the reason #Mastodon, and the #Fediverse at large, aren't taking off has to do with the fact that they're actually social networks. People don't seem to want a social network anymore, they want content platforms. People aren't using #Twitter or #Threads or #TikTok to keep up with their friends anymore, they're using these apps to entertain themselves. And since #Facebook and every other platform that used to be a social network began pivoting toward content promotion, I think society has forgotten what a social network is supposed to actually be anymore.
I'm currently unable to view my Home timeline (and also the featured posts in the explore section) on #Firefish with a vague "An error has occurred" - is this just me?

Not being able to use my home feed to me is like not being able to use Firefish at all
😅
