Football governing body FIFA is set to earn US$ 7.5 billion in revenue from the #WorldCup.

Host Qatar spent some US$ 220 billion on it.

Yet many of the migrant workers who built the stadiums and tournament infrastructure have not been paid.

And thousands of them died or suffered injuries while working, yet they & their families received no compensation.

Russia is now mainly targeting the civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Sanctions and financial transparency to enforce them is a key tool to end the financial clout that allows Russia to do this. But the ECJ just invalidated the public access to beneficial ownership registries across the EU, making it harder to track illicit Russia linked funds.
