Visualization + VR Hybrid Conference Survey

The executive committee of the IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Community (VGTC) and the VIS Executive Committee (VEC) are seeking anonymous community input with respect to potential alternative formats for future IEEE VGTC conferences, primarily from the perspective of an attendee. VGTC-sponsored conferenced currently include: EuroVis: Eurographics / IEEE Symposium on Visualization ISMAR: IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality PacificVis: IEEE Pacific Visualization Symposium VIS: IEEE Visualization & Visual Analytics VR: IEEE Virtual Reality Conference This survey includes a consideration of alternative conference formats, as well as factors that impact the conference experience for attendees, including accessibility, environmental sustainability, and affordability. The survey has several sections and should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

πŸŽ‰ Earlier this week at the #ieeevis conference in Melbourne, ""A Multi-Level Typology of Abstract Visualization Tasks", a paper that I wrote in 2013 with @tamara, received a 10-year Test of Time Award πŸ† .

I recorded a brief video (https://youtu.be/7Q2rWTNKPNc) and wrote a short blog post reflecting on this paper and its impact (https://ubix.substack.com/p/typology-visualization-tasks).

The award was also reported, along with comments from myself and Tamara, in a UBC press release:(https://www.cs.ubc.ca/news/2023/10/dr-munzner-and-dr-brehmer-awarded-ieee-infovis-test-time-award)
