Former DC cop-turned CNN contributor Michael Fanone slams Trump town hall: Why is my employer platforming the guy ‘who tried to get me killed?’

A former police officer who was at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021-turned CNN contributor is slamming the network for its choice to host a town hall featuring Donald Trump. “CNN is a major American cable news outlet whose viewers trust that they are being given accurate reporting of events to the best of […]

These are not simply the unintended consequences of Republican laws - it’s emblematic of the Right’s vision for America: A land of cruel, merciless white patriarchal dominance.

But don’t just take it from me. Look at the types of regimes they are erecting across red states.

Ever wonder why we assign ideas about masculinity & femininity to certain colors & styles?

Until the 1940s, pink was considered a strong color most suitable for boys. Ultimately, retailers decided to associate specific colors to gender to sell more stuff... which, in reality, is kind of a scam.

Boys also used to wear dresses until age 6 or 7. They were considered gender neutral until someone dictated how we should perceive them.

Today is my 1 month anniversary of signing up for Mastodon. A few observations—after spending 13+ years on Twitter:

•The Mastodon community is kinder & more focused on lifting one another up than tearing down.

•Mastodon is learning from Twitter's mistakes by including accessibility options, incorporating an edit button, & not centralizing everything

•Engagement is not dependent on clickbait or outrage, but genuine positive content.

None of the above are absolutes, but overall, glad I'm here.

Many commentators are tweeting & tooting that we need to expand the SCOTUS. That is not the answer to everything. Unless you just want a larger Court, not bound by ethics rules, engaging in the kind of behavior described in the NYT piece. What we need are guardrails - an understanding that the Court sits w/i our democracy. Our job us to strengthen it by creating the processes that promote impartiality & insulation from lobbying, not crossing our fingers & hoping for the best.
