Perhaps my biggest disappointment from the last few years has been in the Left. I thought the Left was supposed to fight for the downtrodden, the disadvantaged, the discriminated-against. Why hasn't the Left fought for Long Covid sufferers? What is the Left for, if not that?
For me "back to normal" does NOT mean "no more masks", it means "not being repeatedly infected by a virus that causes brain damage"
The UK's bold response to an illness affecting two million: #LongCovid clinics. I had a single one-hr call with my clinic—the clinician was great, but, despite being quite ill, I was offered no tests, treatment or follow-up, and I got better advice from sick strangers on the internet
In 2006, I began my PhD, on Gaussian processes, Bayesian optimisation and Bayesian quadrature. In 2022, I'm working on—Gaussian processes, Bayesian optimisation and Bayesian quadrature. How do I feel about still working in the same niche? Extremely lucky! I love these problems

#introduction

👋 Hi all! I'm an Assistant Professor and Faculty Fellow at NYU's Center for Data Science.

My research aims to develop methods and theoretical insights that enable the safe deployment of ML systems in safety-critical settings by drawing on tools from #ProbabilisticInference, #Optimization, and #ReinforcementLearning. I also work on #AIPolicy.

For more details about my research, check out my website (https://timrudner.com) or this recent faculty profile: https://nyudatascience.medium.com/meet-the-fellow-tim-g-j-rudner-dae6b19d4226!
