There are good things in the world:

Security training on the topic of "do not click links or open attachments" is obsolete now.

The AI in your inbox will open all attachments and click on all links. Problem solved.πŸ’πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

@brouhaha Next time someone asks, "What is Mastodon?" I'm showing them this.
a set of those family rear-window decals but it’s a kiki, a bouba, and two little wugs
What is with the French and doing other people's food better? Look at this shit? There has never been a sweet potato pie in North America better looking than this. Don't even get me started on burgers.

All this time we thought the Year of the Linux Desktop would require making Linux easier to use than Windows, when really it required Microsoft making Windows worse than Linux

I'm a #Linux guy now, thanks Mastodon πŸ’š Made by a community, not a corporation πŸ’š Designed for my comfort and control, not for someone else's profit πŸ’š No company pushing weird crappy products I don't want πŸ’š No auto-launching bloat killing the computer's performance Why did I wait this long?! I LOVE IT

"Facts don't care about your feelings" has mutated into a much dumber heuristic: "If I am hurting your feelings, I must be stating a fact."
This is a logical fallacy. It is entirely possible to be an asshole and be factually incorrect. In fact, the correlation is likely positive.
combinations of broths that you could never imagine

I sometimes see folks being surprised at how willing people are to attribute actual cognition to LLM processes.

We're a species that has historically attributed cognition to thunderstorms, the sun, the moon, trees, rocks, etc, and LLMs hit us square in the language centres that have historically been our most reliable source of evidence that we have encountered a fellow "thinker".

The genuinely surprising thing would be if we *didn't* have a tendency to anthropomorphise chatbots.

For example, doing arithmetic is a "cognitive task" for humans, but nobody (or very few) would argue that a calculator doing the same arithmetic is using cognition to do so.
