having been the “cishet husband of a bi person at pride”, i just wanna say—and i mean this from the bottom of my freshly grown tits—don’t gatekeep that shit

today I learned about p**l gr*h*m’s “hundred year language” thing

and sure, lisp broadly construed will be around for my entire life (if only in emacs)

but we’re all kidding ourselves if we think the C standard won’t still be updated in 2070 too

much of the fediverse is "public" in the same way a conversation between friends at the beach is public. sure you can hear what we're saying as you walk by and even join in, but if you sit silently beside us with a tape recorder to transcribe everything we say for further dissemination you're still being a creep
The state built an apparatus of violence that kills on such a hair-trigger that people figured out they can easily deploy it against whomever they want, and none of the people involved seem to wonder if maybe it was a mistake to build that weapon in the first place.

But here's the caveat: I think most people just need security - economic, housing, food, educational, recreational - to act and be mostly good.

It's the political classes that need that ever-present threat of total destruction to behave properly. They have to understand in their cells that if they do corruption, they'll be tarred, feathered, and put in the stocks in the DC summer to bake.

The powerful are the ones that need punishment and prison. Everyone else just needs the basics.

It's telling that we keep seeing "parents' rights" and "parents' bill of rights," but never "children's rights" or "students' rights."
I think more white trans people should focus on reading things written by and talking to people of color. Because we understand oppression in a different way, in a way that has the benefit of generational knowledge. No one prepared me to be trans, there was no way for my family to know how my life would turn out and even if they did they had no experience. I was prepared to be Mexican. Adults in my life prepared me for a world that would treat me different due to the color of my skin.

damn. valve is at the mercy of industry players that dwarf them to such an extent they just have to deal with whatever they're being charged for access to the market?

that sounds rough. can't imagine what that's like

We’re totally fucked if judges can openly say they’re sentencing people who haven’t committed a crime simply for holding an opinion.

“…prosecutors folded defendants who were not alleged to have committed any act of violence into a case…”

“In Batten’s case, prosecutors relied on her black garb… in Soto’s, prosecutors argued that her black clothing and her operation of a small printing press … tied her to the conspiracy. Both received sentences of 50 years”

It is guaranteed that #ACAB, because any police officer that ever tries to do the right thing will be punished or fired or murdered. #FTP
