Lurking on Mastodon to check on my favourite Twitter mutuals who’ve migrated. Hope you guys are doing well, I miss seeing you on my feed ❤️

Singaporean / Malaysian kaya toast set at my home in San Francisco. Incomplete without what NatGeo calls “two eggs so undercooked their whites retained the clarity of newly dead fish eyes.. coffee with an oleaginous blackness that rejected the advances of condensed milk.”

Colonialist travel articles are never not weird, but our breakfasts are always better.

Nat Geo writer describes S'pore's kaya toast breakfast in weirdest way possible, incurs backlash

Weird flex but ok.

Some field sketches of a Coot swimming in calm, slightly clear water. Love seeing their beautiful coloured feet!

Does anyone know of a case of a state using ICT to reduce inequality? 🙏
A question for folks who switched servers - what’s different? Is it worth the hassle?
Hello again! I decided it was time for an updated #introduction. I'm Timo, a food microbiologist turned process developer. Recently made the move to #AltAc after serious mental health issues during my PhD. Apart from posting on #Microbiology, #FoodSci (Beer, wine and dairy in particular), I'm also involved in Inclusive Diversity initiatives. In my free time, I love to cycle, listen to podcasts and play #TTRPG's and am looking for a new place to get back into #BallroomDancing and #Squash.
Has anyone on my timeline published with or reviewed for Qeios (pronounced chaos :D)? I received an invitation to review. It sounds like a very interesting #openscience project so I’m tempted to say yes.
I love my twitter community to bits but ngl, it’s a relief to be able to share stuff with a small number of people on here without worrying about pile-ons.
Guess it’s time for an introduction? I’m here to test if Mastodon could be a safer, more wholesome alternative to Academic Twitter. If I manage to build a community here, I hope to talk about #food [ #foodways #supplychains #law #policy #sustainability ] #academia and #openscience. Cat pictures included in the package 😸
Have typed and deleted five ‘hello world’ posts. There isn’t a less awkward way to do this, is there? 💀
