@starbreaker I've seen the latest beta for Thunderbird (115 if I recall correctly) and noticed a huge change in design. Yet, it has things that trigger me.
Mailmate seems cool, with nice features and all (markdown, also). However, I cringe at the idea of paying $60 for an email client, especially now.
some people may not realise this, but
some of us run away from meta and the rest of big tech to the fediverse communities where we have the right of association and tools to exercise it
some of us really don't want near that profit-before-people e-corp which has too often clearly proved how incapable of basic human ethics they are

Talking about 1st-world problems, now that I'm back (for now) from the UK, it's time to think about switching instance. I've been mulling over two musicians-tailored nice instances, however, I just realised that I'm not forced to stay here.
Either Frendica or Diaspora could serve me well, they're part of the Fediverse, they both use ActivityPub as far as I know, so what's the point of being stuck with Mastodon?
@starbreaker since you recently made that switch, how do you feel about Friendica?
