MaGIC 2026 - Marche Workshop on Group Actions in Cryptography

A workshop dedicated to the study of cryptographic group actions, a rapidly evolving area at the intersection of algebraic geometry, number theory, and post-quantum cryptography. The workshop will bring together researchers working in isogeny-based and code-based cryptography, spanning theoretical foundations and practical applications of group-action techniques.

UPDATE: The European Parliament voted today to *end* untargeted mass scanning of private communications, firmly rejecting the error-prone and unconstitutional surveillance practices of recent years! Next: trilogue negotiations w/ Commission and Council.

This made me chuckle, but also made me angry, because it's SO TRUE.

Motorola announces partnership with Graphene OS to bring us secure phones!

https://motorolanews.com/motorola-three-new-b2b-solutions-at-mwc-2026/

So the mysterious manufacturer GOS was working with was Motorola, not OnePlus as early speculations suggested. This is good news, Motorola is owned by Lenovo and makes cool phones!

Reminder that Graphene OS is still based on AOSP and therefore, IMHO, eventually doomed to succumb to Google's shenanigans. However, for now and for the foreseeable future, that's the best we can have.

New blog post: Fast nonbinary arithmetic https://fredrikj.net/blog/2026/fast-nonbinary-arithmetic/

I'm adding support in FLINT for bignums in any radix (base 10, base 11...) which are nearly as efficient as machine-radix bignums for many operations (and for some operations even faster). This enables big speedups for operations like base conversion and p-adic arithmetic. High-precision base-10 arithmetic is 10-20 times faster than mpdecimal, the C library underlying Python's decimal type.
