<taps the goddamn sign>
They've openly said the point of LLMs is "digital slaves." There are a lot of people who will do literally anything at all to not pay for labor. Anything at all without hesitation.

And if they can rid themselves of the 'whiners' who just want to make a living doing it, more's the better in their eyes. They don't care about quality, stability, safety, or security.

All they care is that it didn't cost them anything.

Data #privacy rights are great, if have them. But if exercising those rights is too difficult, do you really have them? Car privacy is bad - and Privacy4Cars' massive report shows that even those with privacy rights can't easily use them.

"People vastly underestimate the importance of general-purpose computing, and can’t fathom how much worse things can get when it’s gone. Imagine all the (real) economic benefits since the invention of the transistor being directed by a command economy. Liberties we take for granted on already flawed and compromised systems could be diminished entirely. A non-trivial part of this is that one could argue that personal computing has always been artificially cheap. It’s possible that these price hikes better represent a ‘fair’ value of these machines."

#deltachat does

- no bindings to public handles/numbers

- no address-book upload

- not do public contact or group discovery

- not have critical persistent server state (!)

Social identification is private, between people though ephemeral #P2P #E2EE messages.

Servers see messages with random sender and recipient addresses, but those can not be mapped to a phone number or public handle. Servers see IP addresses. But you can use Tor, or a VPN, if you want to hide that.

It' not all bad :)
