It seems I have been muted, at least my posts are no longer showing up. My best guess is it's because I told an AI proponent to go fuck themselves. I can live with what I said, but I will not tolerate being modded away without so much as a notification (not the first questionable incident on this server). In case you end up being able to read this at a later time: I have abandoned this account and will move to my own instance.

I think humanity has crossed the #ai event horizon; Not one of #PaperclipMaximizers, but one where we've utterly stopped valueing expertise. #VibeCoding is no longer seen as terribly amateurish, but as the logical conclusion of the "good enough"-engineering of the past decades. Expect products, hard- and software, to continue their steep decline in quality. I suspect folks with an #engineering mindset will drop out completely. Growing veggies instead. *I* will. Goodbye humans. #cyberpunk

@vt52 I think that only influences how *much* understanding is required. There's no such thing as an "intuitive" interface, even for the very simplest software. I regularly get to observe an elderly relative at a computer and it is truly eye-opening how even the most trivial concepts (think "window", they don't *see* *any* among the pixel soup in front of them; or the fact that one does not need to *retrace* one's steps to "get back out") are significant stumbling blocks.

@vt52 At the moment I'm thinking that technology, as expressed by the -ology suffix (from "-logia", " study"), *cannot* be made so easy it doesn't require *some* understanding. I'm curious whether I'll eventually realize that was wrong (hence I was refusing to make it so, due to ignorance) or will discover some other, unpredicted, thing that flips my perspective. Having realized this attitude zigzag has made me *way* more non-judgemental towards users at the very least.

Spending a day at a nice #spa / #sauna, usually with my #ebook #ereader chock-full of nice #rfc and #spec documents. Yes, I find reading those *extremely* relaxing.
