Spain power cuts - fortunately we are somewhat prepared with solar electricity, cash supplies, 15000 litres of water storage, fuel in car & about a months worth of dehydrated meals š. In case of a zombie apocalypse š§āāļøor natural disaster we also have walkie talkies, LoRa radios & I have been developing off-grid networks (experimenting with #Meshtastic, #Meshcore & #Reticulum) š¤£.
Bit of a wake up call though - prepare for these events no matter how far fetched they seem. They can and do happen.

I donāt know who needs to hear this but if every four years you must vote to keep out fascism, youāre not living in a democracy, youāre living under siege.
Tolerance cannot tolerate intolerance. Either democracies have constitutional protections (and a system of democratic institutions to enforce them) to ensure fascism can never be voted into power or they are just fascisms in waiting.
After 14 hours without electricity in most of Spain, we are now back online in #Granada. Lots of panic here in the city. Some decided to make the most of it and party, some decided to prepare for the worst and look after their closest. Some worried about work and deadlines. Some played cards and admired the stars. Among other things, I helped an elderly neighbour break back into her apartment with an old London Transport Oyster card.

So, reddit has banned those researchers of Uni Zurich who tried manipulating folks with LLMs, and the ethics commission said this:

*sigh* I'm not surprised that the ethics board is trying to wash it's hands off this beyond this boiler plate statement. Makes me wonder how the biomedical ethics Board would have viewed thisā¦
