As I'm trying to make #linux my daily driver, I'm trying to look for some equivalents to applications that don't have a native equivalent (that I'm aware of)

Right now, there are two main ones I'm looking for:
* A launcher that supports menus in the "taskbar" similar to truelaunchbar which I've been using for years. (See screenshot)

* A media organizer/sync utility like #mediamonkey that allows me to manage and synchronize my music with my android phone. (A proper self-hosted streaming option would be lovely, but I can't be bothered right now, so I'm looking for quick.)

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm currently running Linux Mint.

The guilty party... #cattax

The LEDs are working!

#virtualpinball cabinet now has 2x the blinkenlights than it had before. (Mostly from the matrix that was added at the back)

Speaker LEDs are custom PCBs that I designed and had manufactured (at a much higher expense than expected when PCBWay charged me in USD rather than CAD :( ) All others are LED Strips (144/m for playfield strips, 60/m for rear/bottom of cabinet) and grids of WS2812B addressable LEDs.

Also, some #cattax as my cat comes to say hi at the end of the video.

"Why yes, Gray Catbird friend, I feel much the same these days..."

Not one of the keepers from yesterday's trip to Point Pelee, but I thought it was amusing enough to post.

New friend acquired. 😺

Still not sure what to name him. He's a bit shy, but showed enough signs of coming out of his shell at the shelter that I think he'll become more confident over time.

Hopefully I can get some help from the #electronics enthusiasts out there...

For my #virtualpinball build, I want to try and hide the 3 power supplies for the various leds, control boards and toys by mounting it on the rear of the cabinet in a box.

But to make it easier to maintain/rewire as necessary, I'd like to make the connectors quick disconnect.

I just don't know if there's an existing module that exists that will take 1-3 outputs/grounds and break it out into multiple quick-disconnect sockets, each having a latch of some form. A keyed shape would be a nice bonus. Sockets would need to handle at least 5ish amps instantaneously.

Does something like this exist, and what can I search for to find it?

At some point I'll get my living room back from the mess that is my #virtualpinball cabinet exploded everywhere...

Maybe next year...

I had to say goodbye to my cat Digit yesterday. He's been my buddy for the last 16 years.

Starting to think about my next project, a #dragon re-theme of an old #pachinko machine.

I'm kind of wondering what I might do with the tulips from the playfield. These goals open and close as the balls drop in them, triggering a small jackpot.

Western dragons with wings that open/close are an obvious choice, but I think I want to keep this machine more Asian themed.

No clue what I'm going to do for the center feature yet either...

And finished!
