The Varosha district of Famagusta falls inside the 'green line' buffer zone that divides the island of Cyprus between the disputed Turkish Cypriot-controlled north and the Greek Cypriot-controlled south. Until recently, the area has not been publicly accessible since the Turkish intervention in 1974 - almost 50 years ago.
Time seems to have stood still, allowing nature to partially reclaim the once vibrant tourist destination. Images 2022.
