I do the tippy taps on the keyboard to make the machines do the things. #3dprinting, #rollercoasters, #halloween.

I'm looking for interesting work opportunities! Boosts appreciated!

I've done a mix of Dev and Ops since before we concatenated the strings. Folk on LinkedIn have said nicer things about me than I could ever say of myself. https://www.linkedin.com/in/thattommyhall/

I like FP (Clojure/Elixir), cloud infrastructure, solving actual business problems more than adding words to my CV, volume, real users, keeping things simple, bringing others along.

I've done a fair bit of (Big) Data {Science|Engineering}, am pretty proud of the ideas in this talk at Yow! in Australia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjVp4QudLaw regards Provenance / Reproducibility / Incrementally (slides at https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/19IY0R36MibQ0fbspBWQI1xpM4ksThG0v8yI8BwDz--8/edit?usp=sharing)

I skew v hard towards things that could be plausibly described as in the public interest, remote, small companies, working with pals.

DM if you know of anything

I'm routinely blown away by the level that the open source 3D printing community has gone into to improve print quality. From pressure advance to input shaping (where you just casually put an accelerometer onto the print head to work out the resonant frequencies). There are some bonkers smart people in this field, it's amazing!

To make this extra clear. If you are a LastPass user:

🔒 Immediately rotate credentials of anything important stored in LastPass
🔒 Do not store the new credentials in LastPass
🔒 1Password and Bitwarden are good alternatives
🔒 Be on the lookout for targetted phishing emails

TIL that Spotify has an equalizer in the Mac desktop app, since when?! I know the phone apps have had it a while, I guess I'm part of the lucky 10,000 today.

Are you running an ADS-B feeder? Would you be up for helping test something Infrastructure Club are quietly working on?

Ai solves Advent of Code 2022

I will try to solve all of the advent of code with as little human input as possible

3rd times the charm, ended up printing it in one go with supports, rather than keeping the rails separate. Otherwise it's too hard to build up the cross braces. Next up supports! #3dprinting #rollercoasters
After playing RCT again I'm trying to see if I can 3D print some select parts of real roller coasters I like. I will say the modeling is currently kicking my ass, but we'll see how well this prints. No idea how I'm going to do the trains yet. #3dprinting #rollercoasters
