Guess we’re doing this now.

I think if people want Mastodon to be a place where news media thrives, where ppl can openly and freely exchange ideas, amplify content etc we need a quote post/Tumblr reblog-like function. The way to curb harassment isn't to refuse key features imo, it's to give more control. For ex, giving users the ability to turn quote posts on/off, etc. And I just want to reiterate again that this is all simply my own personal perspective! I know many disagree and that's fine :D 5/
I say “look at this f**king dog” with such frequency that my dog now rolls over and presents her belly for pats when she hears it.
As someone who uses the Quote Tweet feature exclusively for things I agree with and want to add comment to, I’m unreasonably annoyed at the lack of this feature on Mastodon.
Worse yet, it is for sure true that QT is used mostly for negative comment, so the decision to exclude it isn’t wrong per se. QTing someone you disagree with and sending them traffic instead of screenshotting their post to deny them clicks is and always has been a bad idea, but everyone does it anyway.
Yes, okay, okay, I’m here. @freakazoid finally won.
