Useful threat intelligence signal: deploy honeypots to your network then filter out any traffic that matches public databases of known malicious IPs. Malicious traffic hitting your network is interesting, but what's hitting your network that isn't hitting everyone else's is much more so.

Hi all. It's been a while since I've asked, but I'm here again asking for you to support your local fediverse instance. I know many instance operators struggle to make ends meet each month, and there does seem to be a downward trend on donations across the board. If you love this place and are in a position to and your instance supports it, please consider supporting them.

Thank you!

There are ten minutes left of my shift. This album has three songs left, my earphones have 6% battery.

Chatting to someone who seems to be obsessed with 'boosting' their immune system.
"You can make your immune system work harder by doing this and getting it to 110%"

Sir, if my immune system is working 110% that is called an autoimmune disease

Just what we needed. Sweaty robots.

Robots Can Now Accurately Simulate One Of The Worst Parts Of Humanity

Technology is expanding rapidly, and now robots have made a large leap to become more humanlike. What horrible trait can they now demonstrate?

If you'd like to learn how to use a scythe, I'm leading a one-day workshop at Bentley Community Woodland, Doncaster. Thursday 3rd July, 10am until 3pm.

Just a relaxing day learning about scythes and having a go at mowing.

I think there's a certificate at the end of it too.

@smbsy are you required to SPEAK LIKE THIS IN ALL CAPS when scything?
@stfn Sorry! I know this is a joke, but I don't get it. 🙃
@smbsy oh, sorry! It was a Discworld reference, I assumed you knew it
@stfn Oh, like Death! Yes, I get it now. Just tired I suppose.
@smbsy yeah, I'm also tired, it was a long, hot day. Enjoy the rest of your evening :)

@smbsy excellent. Can recommend. In my experience scythes are both much less hard work, and much quieter than strimmers, as well as needing no petrol and not leaving microplastic in the environment. The only downsides are that they aren't so good around hard edges, and they'll take damage if you hit anything metal.

I now have two (different) scythes and no strimmers!

@simon_brooke Absolutely!
So much more pleasant to use. I know people who enjoy using a strimmer, but not me. A scythe is far more fun.
No fumes or vibration hazards. No PPE really.
Ours are fuelled entirely by biscuits ;)
@smbsy I would love to learn! I have one and have tried a few times but can't seem to find the right angle/motion/something. Sadly I'm very far away from Doncaster 🙁 it's fantastic that you're sharing this skill though 😁

@kashcah Mm, it can be tricky. Depends on the type of scythe you have. Each one has to be set up for the person using it too...

We only use Austrian scythes. The big old English style scythes are a bit of a mystery to me!

Whichever type you have though, https://scytheassociation.org is the place to look for info and courses near you.
