An ad for Abbott's Bitters, featuring W. C. Fields, from Culinary Review, June 1947. I'd love to find a copy of the recipe booklet they mention.

I searched a bit on Fulton History, and it turns out I was right! The text was not only rearranged into nonsense, but was, in fact, also plagerized without credit from G. Selmer Fougner's column, "Along the Wine Trail," NY Sun, March 9, 1934.

This is the second press mention I've found of Charles C. Mueller, the main author behind "Pioneers of Mixing at Elite Bars". Oh well, it happened again, thought I was buying a 750ml bottle, but...

According to the Kansas City Star, June 26, 1898, the #Martini was introduced to Mexico City in 1890, by Charles E. Hochstetler, who according to other sources was an insurance executive with the Travelers. Another unverifiable bit of Martini lore.

Mushroom, pesto and chevre pizza, as good as hoped.
