Back on Anglesey, outside Porth Swtan. Met some of the locals and enjoyed a spectacular sunset from the cottage.

Twenty-odd years after the so-called hunt ban came in, really hoping it will be the last year of the mass Boxing Day fox hunts. It really is time this public exhibition of animal cruelty is stopped for good.

Not a bad bit of camouflage.

Birthday badgers. Twelfth straight day walking 3 to 4 hours a day on my current vaccination round. A shame the things we have to put them through to keep them safe. But lovely when they charge off into the undergrowth on release.

First open water swim of the year for me. It might be spring here in the UK but the swim cap says it all.
Despite breaking her leg and ankle back in February and having a heart attack a few months ago, my partner still wanted to do the walk to Cable Bay. So, as the storm had passed, I dropped the car off, jogged back to where we're staying and we walked over there with Al. Think he was quite glad for a lift back, too, after the last few days of windy and often wet walking.

My mum never used to swear but she did tell people to, 'Go to Buxton', when she meant eff off. Well, that's where I was for yesterday's Goyt Valley Challenge. 14 miles (23km) of mixed running and walking on that, followed by doing the last pre-baiting of the traps for our current badger vaccination round, and I'm in a sorry state this morning. But great to be back out if only in the fells rather than the mountains.

I started running during the Los Angeles Olympics of 84. So sometime during these Paris games, I will have been running (if you can call what I now do running) for 40 years. Guess that puts me in some vet category or another.
