3 habits that help manage your ADHD in academia (and one that doesn’t)

Longtime readers will know I have been working on a better understanding of neurodivergence (ND) and PhD study. I've just started my third year of this research work and feel more comfortable saying stuff about the topic. At the end of this post I will give you a research update, including the status of our survey findings, but I thought I would start with a…

@ElbowsUpforDigitalSovereignty
Tip of the iceberg.

There's far more data collection than just applications. Consider the humble wifi access point. Or card-enabled laundry machine.

In the rush to pursue #digitalsovereignty , there must be a temptation to consider whatever isn't foreign-owned and -controlled to be sovereign. But sovereignty is only real if it supports the foundational values of the nation; Canadian digital resources that erode charter rights or democratic principles must be considered anti-sovereignty.

Sums up my experience growing up
@rwg Depends on the major power source in your area and how your utility brands itself. Nobody uses "hydro" that way in my neck of the prairies, even if locally there are some hydroelectric dams that are part our power mix.
I genuinely think the worst thing the internet did to reading was convince people that finishing books is a competitive sport. You don't need to read 52 books a year. You just need to read. Books you like. At your own pace. And think about them for longer than a TikTok video.
1/ Announcement: So today being a news day I might as well announce that the team at TheCanadian.Social has officially taken ownership of https://journa.host and https://newsie.social. We have also moved these instances to our facilities in Canada. These are two important instances hosting a large portion of the fediverse's journalism accounts. We felt it important to keep them going as the previous stewards were considering shutting them down. #fediverse #fediadmin #journalists

Today in InfoSec Job Security News:

I was looking into an obvious ../.. vulnerability introduced into a major web framework today, and it was committed by username Claude on GitHub. Vibe coded, basically.

So I started looking through Claude commits on GitHub, there’s over 2m of them and it’s about 5% of all open source code this month.

https://github.com/search?q=author%3Aclaude&type=commits&s=author-date&o=desc

As I looked through the code I saw the same class of vulns being introduced over, and over, again - several a minute.
