I just emailed my local TDs and Senators and asked them to join the call for Ireland to join the Hague group to end complicity in the genocide of the Palestinian people. Will you sign too?

Heard it said that the conflict behind our eco-socio-politico-economic problems is about up-down polarity, not the Left & the Right. I get the sentiment, agree to some extent, & see how this is meant to break down barriers between people who are essentially on the same side. But real leftist values have always been about equality, &, to me, this also means flattening wealth inequalities & hierarchies, so "This is about Up and Down" is actually people waking up to the inherent goals of the Left.

#Longtailedtits build these ethereal moss-lichen-cobweb nests in which to raise their broods, but fewer than one in five pairs succeed. They may help another pair to raise their brood instead. But if some species' survival hangs on such odds at the best of times, what will the present and worsening #ecologicalcrisis mean for them?

"Monbiot’s wager is we can devise an entirely new method of social transformation that does not depend on violence. The question, then, is whether the violent revolutions of the past were successful because they were violent, or whether there was some other determining factor which has perhaps been eclipsed by a fascination with violence?"

"There is no example yet of a non-violent #socialmovement delivering an epochal transfer of power from the obscenely wealthy few to the many. Yet this #transition is the only way to prevent #runawayclimate and #socialbreakdown - which will themselves bring terrible violence."

The rupture

A provocative new manifesto calls for a global movement for 'rupture' to prevent the descent into climate chaos.
