I read Dune: Messiah yesterday. Compared to the first book, it's just not as good. And despite the author saying a main point is to make you realize that Paul is not meant to be someone to be admired, I think he did a better job with that in the first book.

How I got here is a very long story.

I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that I just clicked on a link labelled "Bad Apple but it's the Epstein Files".
I'm enough of an idealist that I once would say that Russia shouldn't have been banned by the contest, but 2024 made me stopped saying such things. I would like my idealism back though. And even in the 2023 contest I could see endless politics (I may agree that Ukraine shouldn't be invaded but I also see the crazy PR that Ukraine is putting on through the show, notably in 2023).
I watched Eurovision on Saturday. I love #eurovision but they are failing at their "no politics" rule. While them failing to enforce that used to be one of the more entertaining parts for me, in 2024 I realized why they had such a rule, and it was so bad I wasn't sure if I'd watch it again in 2025. This year was entirely fun up until the voting session at which all the fun was immediately drained. I'm not sure how to fix such things, but I still love silly music and theatrical displays.
I am slightly annoyed that when I search for "bad apple" I get more stuff about the computer company doing bad AI than a song from a video game that is constantly being reinterpreted in very interesting ways.
In the 2013 Gesi protests, there were a pair of Danish journalists reporting all sorts of things on youtube about the protests. While there are many reporters in Istanbul now, I'm not sure who to follow for a good "keep up with the news" perspective. Do the crowds have any suggestions? I don't need it to be video, updates in text is fine too.
