I spent a significant chunk of the 1980s working in country radio, which was WAY different than today’s appropriation of that name.
Beside the fact that music sounded completely different, things were a little more freewheeling, and not always restricted to a very limited playlist. We played album cuts of the DJs’ choice. We also played artists from yesteryear, staying well-connected to the history of country music.
