Cached US Kindle giveaway: 6 copies of @MurHerself's SIX WAKES, which I haven't read (but do have a copy of), but the description sounded interesting (reminding me a bit of one of the more-comprehensible parts of FEERSUM ENDJINN). Also, the author.

If you read it, please let me know what you think of it! And, as always, feel free to claim one, or tell other people about the giveaway, or both! Or neither, honestly.

A prof once told me I'd emulated Kazuo Ishiguro, and I had to tell him I'd never read Ishiguro. He then said he'd been told he was clearly imitating Jorge Luis Borges, when he'd never read any Borges. I just told a client they'd leaned a little too much on Douglas Adams in a particular story.

I'll give you one guess what they said.

Shelling out god knows how much for plumbing work means I get to shell out like... $30 more to have pizza for dinner, right?
The Merry Dredgers | Jeremy C. Shipp

Does anyone know... is self-promo verboten on the toots app? I'm wondering if I should plug my freelance availability, but don't want to cross a line.

Writer friends, what are the words you realize you're using too much while drafting, but can't seem to stop using in that moment?

Mine are "realize" and "in that moment."
