Making progress on standing up my own #mastodon instance. Initially, went with a prebuilt setup, but that didn't work out of the gate.

Easier to just install it directly on the server, except for e-mail. Going to check out AWS SES since it doesn't have a minimum cost per month.

Seems to work, but need to wait for Amazon to approve SES to go to prod.

I setup my first Mastodon instance, but it doesn't seem to want to talk to other instances.

I can look up my new account from this one but follow request, etc doesn't seem to go through.

Pope Francis has recognized the martyrdom of Józef and Wiktoria Ulma and their seven children. They were killed by Nazi soldiers for hiding Jewish people on their property.

This opens the door for them to be beatified, the step before sainthood in the #Catholic Church.

I want my social media presence to be more positive than the old place. It is taking very active intentionality to not post pointless rants or amplify Twitter's new owner's senselessness.

We’re going to decorate the tree. It’s been up with only lights and we put up ornaments the (full) weekend before Christmas-ish.
