I had some difficulty understanding the choices for setting the scope of one’s toots. I found this piece quite helpful an attach screenshot of the most relevant part. iOS app Toot! also describes the scope settings more clearly. “Unlisted” should still show up for your followers and be public on your profile but not show up on local instance feed, I understand correctly.
