I see the conspiracy theory about the Butler shooting being staged is having a bit of a resurgence on reddit tonight (maybe elsewhere too). It's a pretty obvious lie (the shooting was obviously not staged, I mean -- the conspiracy theory is the lie.) But I wonder if the sudden rise in discussion of it is perhaps a bit of a disinfo campaign aimed at making the Epstein thing seem also absurd, even though it's definitely not at all comparable.
