Open up your fruit cage. That fruit belongs to the people

Do people ever really change? A massive new meta-analysis says no—at least when it comes to the differences between us. Despite some fluctuations in adolescence and early adulthood, personality differences among adults are remarkably stable over time.

Reminder to anyone who supports the NYT staff's labor action: unless a miracle happens and we get a contract deal by midnight, we will be walking out for one day tomorrow, Dec. 8.

We'll be asking supportive readers to abstain from visiting/using NYT offerings for the day, midnight to midnight. That means articles. That means multimedia. That means... Wordle.

I know. That one pains me too. But maybe the word will be like LYMPH and we'll all be lucky to miss it.

US: 32% of Black adults worry every day or almost every day that they might be threatened or attacked because of their race or ethnicity. So do 21% of Asian adults and 14% of Hispanic adults. Many have changed their daily schedules and routines because of these threats.

Here's some sage advice from Harlow Shapley, 1948...

"...he who speaks longer than his allotted time is almost always detested."

Mused over whether to share this #story, which isn't really mine. But it was shared with me, and it's publicly available, so I think it's okay.

Back in the summer, at this place, Carrawburgh Fort on #HadriansWall, after a day of storytelling nearby, I met a woman. We talked about #stories, and I told her about the nearby Coventina's Well (unmarked and extraordinary, but a different story). I know a good story, she told me. Look it up. The Wild Child of Crackpot Hall. That's my mum, she said. 1/
