I write words. Some of them are good.

One last thing to take care of for 2024. Turn off all the AI crap.

Blocking AI

AI is the devil, and we need to turn if off everywhere we can. Let’s get to it. I’m a Windows user so some of this is not going to apply to other OSes.Disable AI in Word1.       From the menubar, go to File > Options > Trust Center2.       Click the Trust Center button3.       Go to Privacy Options4.       Click Privacy Settings button5.       Scroll down and uncheck the “Turn on all connected experiences”Kill AI in Windows (aka CoPilot)Disabling CoPilot1.       Click the start button2.       Ty

#PennedPossibilities 535: Writing strengths?

I answered this question with words.

#WritersCoffeeClub 12/25 Are you having a writing-free day or sneaking in a few paragraphs?

We’ll see what i get around to. I’ve painted some siding on the house, primed some robot finger.

It’s just a day off from work around here.

#WordWeavers Day 25: Do your MCs believe in an afterlife?

Alex Rune has been to Helheim. 0 stars. Would not go again.

#WordWeavers 23. Where does your MC feel most at home?

At home.

#PennedPossibilities 531 — How stable is your MC’s mental health?

Define stable.

Alex Rune hasn’t had any flashback or clipshow episodes in awhile.

#WritersCoffeeClub December 14. Is it OK for a book to be purely entertainment, or must it have meaning or a lesson?

Whether author puts it there on purpose or not, meanings and lessons are determined by the reader.

MC does dumb things? Our lesson is don’t do that. Or fix it.

World has systemic problems, our lesson is take down such systems in our world.

A reader who doesn’t discern any take-aways, thinks it’s just entertainment isn’t very deep.

I bet they thought old Star Trek wasn’t woke.

When did you first start reading? How enthusiastically (or not!) did you take to it?

I’ve read tons since i can remember having access to a library. Like kindergarten age probably.

As many books as they allowed. Stacks in one library.

#PennedPossibilities 524. When it comes to your characters, who do they turn to for advice?

To be honest, I don’t think I’ve written a character who sought advice.

I’m sure that’s crazy. But given how many folk ignore the advice they’re given, why would you give it, let alone ask.

#Wordweavers 10 Dec: What kind of stories do you like telling?

Tales with comeuppance. Myths of current events. Sagas of justice awakened.
