This just popped into one of my feeds - I think that it's a great story about a someone meeting the man.

In May this year, Peter Hendy pressured my now-former employer Systra to sack me by threatening them.

Why did he do this? Because I'd highlighted safety and accessibility issues at Euston station. He is unfit for office and should resign.

Holy shit, the Rijksmuseum used a 100MP Hasselblad camera to take almost eight and a half THOUSAND photos of the whole of Rembrandt's The Night Watch, for a total image size of 717 GIGAPIXELS. 😳

It's on their website as a zoomable image and you can zoom in so far you can see the individual cracks in the paint: https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/stories/operation-night-watch/story/ultra-high-resolution-photo

Ultra high resolution photo

The Rijksmuseum published the largest and most detailed ever photograph of The Night Watch on its website, making it possible to zoom in on individual brushstrokes and even particles of pigment in the painting.

Centuri Aztarac: Finding THE Holy Arcade Grail…

Let me start by saying that this is the most amazingly poignant tale I’ve come across in arcade collecting circles. I’ve written before about incredible rare arcade ā€œfindsā€ …

Long shot: My mom lost one of her favourite silver earrings somewhere between Dublin's Heuston Station - on the train - Tralee. They look like the one below and were made by the Reaching Out social enterprise in Hoi An, Vietnam. If spotted, let me know! Shares appreciated

at this point, I am looking for any remote work that isn't phone-based customer service.

I have almost 10 years of experience as a full-stack engineer. I worked in customer service and tech support for years; I'm good with people and users, just would really prefer to not be on a phone doing customer service all day. I have experience in manual and automated QA, experience in PMing, I've worked in edtech and in PII, I've done one-off freelance work and I've been a teammate at Fortune 500 companies. I have a lot of experience in mentorship, in public speaking, in process iterations on teams, in working on accessibility.

I am dedicated, hardworking, and I care very deeply about my users and my team. I would love to work for you (or, if you know of any companies that are hiring for remote workers, please let me know!)

(edit: I'm in the US, happy to work in any US timezone)

boosts appreciated!

Semi-regular reminder:

If you need, or if you know someone who needs, an experienced C++ programmer who's learned a thing or two about AC and batteries, understands active, reactive, and apparent power, can tell SOC from SOE from SOH, primary from secondary from tertiary power control, has worked on an AC battery controller and two(!) microgrid controllers (https://toot.berlin/@sbi/110485482006891285), and if you/they are OK with me (mostly) working from home (Berlin, Germany), please give me a shout.

Attached: 2 images For the last 10 years I have been paid for writing code which controls AC batteries (DC batteries plus inverter) or whole grids with fossil fuel, wind, PV, and batteries. I have seen small containers with a single 100kWh battery and 50MWh battery power plants. Some support tiny microgrids, like the backup power for a small hospital, some support whole islands cutting their diesel consumption down to 20%, and some of them provide primary control to some of Europe's biggest national power grids.

Hello fediverse, lil cry for help: I’m looking to speak to someone with vitelliform macular dystrophy caused vision loss, so I can ask about their experience with the onset of symptoms. I was diagnosed ~3 years ago and until recently hadn’t experienced symptoms, I believe I now am but would love to chat to others about their experiences. Compulsory masto disclaimer: I’m not looking for advice other than the specific ask above, thank you. Boosts much appreciated šŸ’–
