Three years ago the statue of slave trader Edward Colston was dumped into the harbour in #Bristol, UK. The city debated what to do with the statue, erected in 1895 (174 years after his death), for many decades. In response to the murder of George Floyd in 2020, protests sprung up in the USA and UK, with the Bristol #protest leading to the statue's watery demise by a group called the "Colston Four". Charges were brought against them but they were acquitted by a jury in 2022.

First trip to Uxbridge tube station at the western end of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly Lines today, and really enjoyed having a look around one of Charles Holden's art deco-style stations. The stained glass windows over the entrance are really beautiful.

What I really want is an app where you can just log the stations you've visited on the London Underground and Overground and it marks them all on a map. Even better if the app covers all the national rail stations in the UK.

I walked away after paying, and I'd been given the incorrect ticket for the 1550 plane, and if I hadn't run to check in my bag again and sprinted though security I would have missed that flight. I was FUCKING FUMING!
This all sounds like totally made-up drama for attention, but it is all true. I could really just cry right now.
I was going to buy myself a new ticket on Air Europa a few hours later, but then I found out they'd lost my bags. The bags then turned up just after that flight took off (lucky I didn't buy the tickets), of course. I still couldn't get help from BA to figure out what to do. So I bought myself a €250 ticket back to London. The only other option available was a 12-hour layover at Bogotá, Colombia. I bought a ticket from the Iberia desk asking for the 1750 plane.
It was delayed so much that I missed my connection at Madrid and the only other flight was tomorrow at the same time, but I'd miss the conference. Then came the problem: Iberia said they could do nothing and to speak to British Airways. BA were totally uncontactable in any way at all. They literally cut me off and their helpline hung up automatically. Twitter was useless too.
I was supposed to be in Panama speaking at a conference on
#LGBTQ+ people working in the maritime industry. Instead I'm currently on the Elizabeth line back home.
#BritishAirways really messed up. Their 6am flight from Heathrow to Madrid was delayed this morning (bearing in mind because of the fact the late night travel options are limited to Heathrow and I needed to check in at 4:30am for the flight I'd been there since 2am).

I've got a flight from Heathrow at 6am next Wednesday morning, and I did not think through how I was going to get there when I booked it. The current options to get from North London involve four buses and (remarkably given the time) a train with GWR. This, or an Uber for £45.
