The best advice I got about Mastodon is that it’s for things you love, not hate
I was thinking yesterday it'd be nice if Supabase had GraphiQL in the admin UI. Got the email about it being released today. Love it

The company where I work is shutting down, so I'm looking for a new job.

I have 9 years of software engineering experience with about 5 in infrastructure-focused roles (#Devops, #SRE ).

I've worked extensively with AWS and GCP (using terraform for both), and kubernetes (helm).

I'm looking for hybrid remote / in-office positions near #boston, or for remote positions.

On the flip side, timecard fraud *is* a felony, and people regularly go to jail for it. Timecard fraud is when an employee:

* Knows that their pay is determined by when they clock in and clock out
* Knowingly clocks in when they are not working, or clocks out significantly after they have stopped working

I don't understand why stealing $1000 in one direction is a felony that DAs give people years for, but in the other it's a civil matter where restitution and a fine are the usual punishments.

Given how much about tech pisses me off lately I’ve been trying to re-discover what I love about it. I’ve realised that, as well as just playing with funky toys, it’s a lot to do with tech as a leveller. Giving people the ability to just make stuff and get it out there for others to find is still what’s most magical about it for me. I couldn’t give a rat’s arse about the glamour and riches of big tech, the ability for some random person to surprise and delight the world is what I’m here for ❤️

Why do white Americans learn about the dozens of wealthy Black towns that were destroyed by racism, from:
* Fictional TV shows made by HBO
* Black women comedians (Amber Ruffin)
* Random Black dudes that post on the internet 🙋🏿‍♂️

Instead of from their history text books?

Again folks will ask "Why was I not taught this in school?" And again, I will say, "You know why." Look at what DeSantis is doing. Look at what the Texas Board of Education has always done.

This is the Forbidden Knowledge(tm)! 🤫

@magical @pluralistic “Systemic problems need systemic solutions.”

“Systemic problems need systemic solutions.”

Systemic problems need systemic solutions.”

YES.

It isn’t possible to be a just individual in an unjust society. But that doesn’t mean the answer is despair; the answer is, as Doctorow says here, to join with others to change the world.

Dr. Doom migrates to Mastodon

I'm sharing this as an actual solution to empower civilians.

Please check out TurnSignl, an app founded by Black civil rights lawyers. It lets you video call a lawyer asap through voice activation or single touch when police pull you over. The lawyer manages & records the entire convo w/police & works to get you home safe.

It's like $7/mo and free for low income people. It's in a few dozen states & will be nationwide shortly. I have it myself.
