@kushal you could try checking the value of “LD_LIBRARY_PATH” env variable in your terminal shell and then set the same value in the .desktop file. Though I’m not that familiar with the .desktop files, som I’m not sure how it’s done. I’d try to use wrapper script as a dirty hack just to see if it helps.

@tokenizer @alpinelinux it probably relates to different standard C library these systems use. Alpine uses “musl” and Ubuntu uses “glibc”.

wrt people yelling at you about using WSL, don’t let that bother you. Use whatever works for you. People just love to force their choice on others.

@icaria36 by absolute accident I heard someone today mentioning a similar issue, and they blamed it on Wayland. I dont know much more about it, but it could be one area to investigate.
@aj thanks! I might give it a shot over the weekend
@lpwaterhouse @neptune22222 @chartier it’s free for personal use, so that’s a pretty poor racket. Why not just accept that it’s a set of features that previously did not existed and because corporate clients pay for it, individuals get to benefit from it for free.
@aj Did you have to do anything special to get Regolith working on 24.04? There doesn’t seem to be an official repository for noble yet.
@lpwaterhouse @neptune22222 @chartier @debian What’s wrong with Ubuntu Advantage (which I think is currently called Ubuntu Pro)? You get extra security patches for wider set of packages. How is that a bad thing for your security?
@martymichal huh…thanks for enlightening me. I really thought that the repositories would be gone by now 😀
@martymichal 23.04 is about 3 months after its EOL at this point. I’d wager that repositories are no longer up and thats causing all sorts of issues.
@tylerknowsnothing Skipping over the totally wrong statement that Ubuntu 24.04 is not capable of installing .debs. Im more interested in what does this have to do with capitalism and greed 😀😀
