I'm passionate about Australian wildlife & have rescued/cared for wildlife for many years. Have written various training manuals & websites in the field. Many species of Australian wildlife are heading for extinction, & we are the only generation left that can prevent this happening. We have to step up. If we don't, it will be too late.
These are my accounts too.

When #computers were a little larger than they are today

Recommend a Netfix programme called the Days. A japanese dramatic telling of the days following the tsunami and subsequent breakdown of the Fukashima nuclear power station.
Old badly maintained plant, hopeless safety response and equipment, corporate denial, quiet heroism and no idea how to decommission the station. Recommended for Senator Canavan and other nuclear optioneers.

Seen a few people asking if there's a document comparing #lemmy to #kbin and explaining what they are and why they exist and why they are hot and how to do them.

So I wrote one in my #blog

Here you go.

It's never been about freedom of speech.

All along it's been about toxic assholes feeling entitled to an audience for their bullshit.

Murdoch Royal Commission needed right now: Senator Hanson-Young

The calls for a Royal Commission into the Murdoch media empire in Australia continue to gain traction, with advocates highlighting the need to address media diversity and outdated regulations. While there may not be strong public support for an inquiry at this stage, proponents argue that it is long overdue and necessary for the benefit of the public. Among those pushing for the inquiry is Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, who recently introduced a Bill in the Senate to establish the investigation.

New Politics

I'm still half-reeling from the awareness that The Former Guy literally asked Russia to help him. On live TV. And then Russia did help him. And we've proven that.

And we're still all over here like, "I hope maybe one day somebody can convict him of something."

It's time for us to talk about the reality that the US *is* a failed state. It's not becoming a failed state. A functional state vigorously and promptly punishes anyone who helps or receives aid from the enemy.

@willallen I see the way US has pursued Assange (an Australian citizen) over far less damaging leaks, whilst ignoring the similar role the media took. The man is still rotting in gaol having never yet been found guilty. Will be interesting to see the different way a rich American, who was once president, will be treated by your legal system. I doubt he will be treated anywhere near as badly, even though his crimes are far, far worse & far more harmful. The whole world is watching this.

I don't see nearly enough people talking about the staggering cost to the US and allies as a result of The Former Guy's theft.

Politics is one thing, but in the Intelligence and Counterintelligence communities, there are protocols. And one protocol you can take to the bank: When a man who is known to have back channel connections to literally every one of our enemies steals a trove of classified documents, you treat every single one of them as if they are now owned by our enemies.

Let the gravity of that sink in. Every single agent mentioned is now compromised. Every agent alluded to is compromised. Every combat plan is now available for all our enemies to develop countermeasures for. Every secret plan to develop intelligence on our enemies is now a dead end.

There were nuclear secrets in there.

How do you begin to calculate the impact and cost of the enemy knowing our nuclear secrets, including potentially our plans if Putin were to launch a limited nuclear strike?

We will never know the cost of it, because it's all SUPPOSED TO BE SECRET TO PROTECT US FROM OUR ENEMIES. But however much you think it cost, it was probably more.

The Defense Department and Intelligence Community don't have the luxury of hoping he didn't make the sales we all know he made.

They have to assume he sold all of it. Whether it's ever proven or not.

This is one of the worst crimes ever committed by a US citizen against the US.

@Melody I think even though everybody in my generation (X) watched all the cloak and dagger movies, we still didn’t develop a healthy appreciation for how much information an enemy can glean from an apparently innocuous slip of the tongue, or even the awareness that a certain secret document exists… much less from having seen it.

That guy’s tongue was wagging uncontrollably for four years while he had access to all our secrets. And I’ll eat my hat if Mar a Lago hasn’t been bugged by every enemy state we have.

Putin got way more return than he could have dreamed, no matter how much he spent to get TFG installed.
