Woah - German government has got its own Mastodon instance and most of the ministries and many agencies already have accounts.
Verification problem at least partially solved - just need to check the domain is right!
I've also seen newspapers like theatlantic.com set up instances themselves. Looks like verification will be worked out sooner or later.

Ok, Mastodon is officially a lot more awesome than I had realised. There's a federated server for everyone who's really into bitcoin, and, yes, it is full of people who are as awful as you can imagine. But, with one click, you can block the entire domain! 12.8k thousand crypto weirdos filtered out in a click. Amazing.

Ein bisschen fühlt sich der #Abschied von #Twitter wie damals der Abschied von der #Piratenpartei an. Beides ist nicht völlig weg, aber was übrig ist, hat sich plötzlich so sehr verändert, dass es sich fremd und nicht mehr passend anfühlt.
