@Nimrod @eniko ❤️ thank you for saying this. And you’re right it is a western society thing. Why is it ok to harm others?
@alannawrites @eniko flu can kill. I ended up on a ventilator due to flu. 2013. Wasn’t sposed to make it out. Go to the Dr don’t wait
@eniko and why is it ok to pass the fly around? People act like it’s a badge of honor. “I went to work w the flu”. Well, it might not be them this time, but 40-60 K people die of the flu each year. Why is that ok? Let alone we are loosing people to Covid in addition. Not saying to lockdown. But why promote sickness?
@neurovagrant First world problem smh
@karmac @AE4WX In Canada we have this guide. To pass the Basic in Canada, you have to correctly answer 70% of a 100 question test from a pool of 900 potential questions. (Basic with Honours is an 80% pass and then you can transmit on HF among other things) It sounds hard but I have zero electronic background and still got B with H after writing the test once. There are many clubs offering classes which are fun and help as well. Find your local amateur radio club and ask about that. #hamradio #amateurradio
@davidzipper yes. And then there is the question I have. How is said electricity produced? Many places still use COAL which is incredibly bad for the environment. The health and environmental impact of coal - from how its mined (mountaintop removal anyone?) fly ash and the pollutants produced in a coal fired plant - all to make electricity. Is that a productive efficient way to produce power for electric autos etc?
@mountainwitch @AE4WX that’s great info thank you! I have absolutely no experience wouldn’t even know how to operate the radio, hadn’t thought about local clubs.
@ajroach42 LG phenom running Windows CE I think it was? Slick machine. Loved it back in the day
@noyes @xabitron1 dementia terrifies me. I saw someone progress thru it. He wasn’t even old. Late 50s when first signs showed up. An aside. Due to age perhaps? He had trouble getting a diagnosis. 3rd doc nailed it, MRI confirmed it. Early onset PPA not something I want to experience terrifying.
@mountainwitch @AE4WX how does one learn? It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.
