A long-lost friend of mine suffered from what I can only describe as literary Beatlemania. Just one example: He was such a fan of Ted Hughes, he found out which local boozer the man drank in and turned up with copies of his books to sign, even persuading one of Ted's mates to take a photo of them stood next to one another (this was before mobile phones). As the poet himself said to my friend, I really don't understand this kind of thing. @bookstodon
