@caseyliss @marcoarment @siracusa I've been out of the loop for a while, and I'm not sure if you've mentioned the weird podcast/CarPlay bug on the show. There's extreme clipping in all podcast apps I have installed (Apple Podcast, Overcast and Spotify). Two weird things: 1. In Spotify, music sounds normal but podcasts are distorted. 2. The clipping goes away if you open the Camera app. 🤷‍♂️ This is just while playing podcasts through CarPlay. https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/comments/1mcsk0r/ios_26_pb1_distorted_carplay_audio/
I was recently asked if the strong passwords that Apple Passwords generates contain ”gibberish two-syllable ‘words’”. I explain the answer to this question in a new post on my blog: https://rmondello.com/2024/10/07/apple-passwords-generated-strong-password-format/
Apple Passwords’ Generated Strong Password Format

This post briefly summarizes part of a talk I gave in 2018. All information in this post has been accessible on YouTube since then. There is no new information or news in this post. On Mastodon recently, [email protected] asked me: Having an annoying argument on Threads about Apple generated passwords. Every iOS Password (like hupvEw-fodne1-qabjyg) [...]

@rmondello Having an annoying argument on Threads about Apple generated passwords. Every iOS Password (like hupvEw-fodne1-qabjyg) seems to be constructed from gibberish two-syllable "words”. Hup-vew, fod-ne and qab-jyg above. Is this all in my head? Am I going crazy? Is the two-syllable thing by design or random?

@marcoarment I would love a way to “bookmark” a point in a podcast episode so I can go back and reference it to make a comment/tweet or make a clip after finishing an episode. #overcastapp
What are Maps like on Vision OS? I’ve always felt that the parallax effects in Look Around was meant for something specific and would be super cool in 3d? @gruber @prolost @caseyliss @marcoarment
@snazzyq Figure was released in 2012 and even then there were music making apps that did a lot of what you could do on desktop music software. But Figure struck a beautiful balance between simplicity, fun and great sound. It was also a very early example of “flat” design, released long before iOS 7. And you could wirelessly sync two of them together! I still love that app. https://youtu.be/9IPUswBCU74

I am sorry to report that the last two publications recognizable as computer magazines in the classic sense have abandoned print. (You probably didn’t notice unless you were a subscriber.) I was moved to write a eulogy for the whole era. https://www.technologizer.com/2023/04/15/the-end-of-computer-magazines-in-america/
The End of Computer Magazines in America

The April issues of Maximum PC and MacLife are currently on sale at a newsstand near you—assuming there is a newsstand near you. They’re the last print issues of these two venerable computer magazines, both of which date to 1996 (and were originally known, respectively, as Boot and MacAddict). Start
