Love when a random stumble gets me somewhere like this:

These cookie banners are really getting wild. :O
@Cdespinosa Over the years, I've heard stories of how Apple rode out the big quake on October 17, 1989. I knew that De Anza 3 suffered some of the worst damage and took over a year to rebuild. (The Infinite Loop campus was yet to be built at this point.) Here's a story I hadn't heard before, told by Owen Rubin. https://www.mymac.com/inside-apple-for-the-1989-earthquake/
Inside Apple for the 1989 Earthquake.... - MyMac.com

Seeing Tim’s burned iBook story reminded me of another great Apple disaster recovery story: I worked at Apple when the big earthquake of 1989

I warned you.

AI, LLM, whatever. I know there are some strong opinions about it, and mine is yet another one. Going to admit it - I have been having fun with them. Years ago when I was a full time sysadmin I'd learn a bunch of stuff and forget it 2 days later. Probably the head injury as a child, but whatever. ChatGPT/etc have been FUN for me to use. I've been re-learning shell scripting and having a blast. it's interactive and engaging.
I've really enjoyed them so far.

Have any of you ever set up automx2 from the developer's docs *and* gotten it to work with Apple Mail? That's the last stumbling block I have today. It's working with the others.

I will not open an account with Meta to see it.

Your loss.

I found a new way to waste time and a tiny amount of bandwidth.

Instead of using the pi24 image, which started to vomit after I tried doing a simple apt update, I went with this one instead:

Quick! Look busy! I vibe coded an online meeting sim so that you can throw on headphones and keep people from interrupting you because as they walk by, they'll think... you're busy. Everything was created in #AI (Google Gemini & Veo2).

Online Meeting Simulator - Pretend to be Busy!

Simulate being in an online video meeting. Dynamic participants, live chat, and your webcam feed make it look real!

I admit that I still self host email, and as I get older, I'm starting to ask myself why. It's not really a big issue, and spam is just about zero thanks to post screen + spam assassin. Delivery hasn't been much of a problem, except (surprise surprise) to fucking Gmail.

My worry now is that if something happens to me, I want my wife to be able to take care of things.
