I'm coming to the conclusion that the number of trips to B&Q required for a DIY job is somehow inversely proportional to the amount of time you have to do it.

The depressing thing about the modern "AI" situation is it didn't need to go this way. Art "AI" is a usless toy, but LLMs do have very specific use cases where they could be useful. But corporations decide to ignore usefulness and instead lean into annoying lie machines that do people's homework and cause brain damage.

LLMs have very specific niche useful areas, but they aren't profitable so it's now just shoved into everything as usless garbage that makes everything worse.

Today I am trying to debug legacy code, authentication and nodejs in unideal conditions. The rubber duck has run away and I'm considering a life devoid of technology, preferably in a cave. It's not even 11am. đź«

Today a large business learnt the hard way that you should always keep track of domains you set up. My thoughts go out to the poor guy in the IT department who now has to explain domain name expiry and parking to a lot of their management chain. đź«

I was reminded today of the logo for ESA's Planetary Defence Office.

I think it wins over the NASA Planetary Defense Coordination Office and JAXA Planetary Defense logos.

New work laptop this week as my old Lenovo P15 was really struggling. A shiny Lenovo P1 arrived pre-installed with Fedora 42 and... it just worked.

Everything, no exceptions..
Out of the box I've got a fully singing and dancing Linux laptop ready to go.

Standby? Sure.
Multi-monitors? No problem!
Firefox and Wayland? Best of pals.

I have no complaints, gripes, or niggles. I think this is the fastest I've gone from turning a new laptop on to being productive ever.

When I was young I had a #LEGO computer game called LEGO LOCO. It's a game where you can build a 2D LEGO city with train tracks running through it. I loved this game.

I've created an ISO image from the CD a few years back and now I've put it to work.

Time for a new variation on a classic.
