Let’s say it loud and clear:
There’s nothing wrong with promoting your small business, your art, books, your services on mastodon or any other social media.
Self promotion is not an ad!
It’s being part of a community.
People have to do it. Other people might need and want the good stuff their community members might offer.
Mutual support and buying from your community members is good, wholesome and necessary.
Boost if you agree, so creators feel welcomed to self promote here

Regardless of how many decades you’ve worked in IT, and no matter your current role, you will always have days where you spend way too much time troubleshooting:
1) Printing stuff
2) Issues created by passing Windows-formatted output into shell scripts
(Strictly speaking the second is a subclass of the first, but today they were discrete episodes, bah)
I meant to be finishing a post about books I'm reading but I got distracted and wrote ~2500 words about Mastodon and Bluesky and the related things (welcoming design, insular culture) I've been stewing on for a few months
And also about vegetarian meat substitutes in the 1980s, which were *really something*
