My latest capture through the telescope. This is the Eastern Veil Nebula which is a large supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus. This was captured in narrowband over two nights southern Washington.
This picture represents one of the happiest photos I've taken. Last week I had a mishap and my rig had a run-in with an unexpected sprinkler that ran overnight. Electronics are not a fan of water. It all survived thankfully (minus a LiFePo4 battery pack) and this is data from 4/29. M101 - Pinwheel galaxy. #astrophotography #m101 #pinwheelgalaxy #zwo #am5 #asi294mm
@aconaway check out lifepo4 cells and build your own battery. Just add some cabling and a bms. A science project battery is fitting for a project such as this :)
@ctoadvisor if it were just me, or just the wife and I, I would absolutely wing it a lot more. I’m a bit jealous of that level of freedom.
@aconaway we definitely are coming back. The kids think you all are the best and anytime we bring it up they are pumped about more time with you two. Joy and I think you’re pretty great too 🤣
@ctoadvisor we’re planners so most of our travels are planned in advance. The first four months were planned before we made the decision to go full time. It’s hard to not plan when our rig is as big as it is. I would love to be more off the cuff but the stress is too much when a family of five needs a dependable place to sleep at night :)
Today my family is celebrating one year of full-time nomadic life. If you're curious about what that looks like, my wife made a post on Facebook that tries to capture all of the adventures this past year has brought... https://www.facebook.com/flipflopsandfreeways/posts/pfbid06nxmq68cATfK5DYgSFkYhtVhmPmwocZzyNNwMLkASeW6Np7i1J3RqkCo4pzep4iMl?notif_id=1682531622302759&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic&ref=notif

@joy probably better that way…
@aconaway I can't resist a good off-grid power project. After doing all the research and work for my RV install, I find it all fascinating.
@aconaway have you considered an independent shunt at the battery to give you those stats regardless of source?
