A friend with cancer got COVID-19 in a hospital while getting chemo. He now has pneumonia.

Please wear masks in hospitals.

“I wanted to address my senators, Cruz and Cornyn.. I would like for them to know that what happened to me is a direct result of the policies they support. I nearly died on their watch and I may have been robbed of the opportunity to have children in the future”
People are being pushed beyond their breaking point and something is going to give eventually. The fascists are hoping it breaks in their favor or comes later rather than sooner, when they're in a better position to use the police state to exterminate all opposition.
Authoritarianism is not just an external threat. It's right here in America.

Montana transgender lawmaker barred by GOP from House floor

Montana Republican leaders are voting on whether to discipline transgender state lawmaker who has been silenced on the statehouse floor for comments against a bill to ban gender-affirming medical care for children.

GOP strategy:

1) Cut taxes for the rich & corporations, claiming they'll pay for themselves

2) Explode the deficit

3) Use the debt & deficit as an excuse to demand cuts to programs that millions rely on

4) Repeat

They're trying to get away with it again. We can't let them.

@spreadmastodon @tchambers @davidslifka the issues will be antix doesn't use systems, so I might just use mxlinux with systemd option.
@johnc62 @tchambers @davidslifka Go for it! Love to see how that would work! ✊

@atomicpoet has a "1 click" almost in the can and coming soon, but we can't have too many of these solutions.

Although this article by Peter Kalmus (@ClimateHuman) about his difficult personal decision to stop flying was published in 2016, it's every bit as relevant today.

Hour for hour, there’s no better way to warm the planet than to fly in a plane. If you fly coach from Los Angeles to Paris and back, you’ve just emitted 3 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, 10 times what an average Kenyan emits in an entire year. Flying first class doubles these numbers.

However, the total climate impact of planes is likely two to three times greater than the impact from CO2 emissions alone. This is because planes emit mono-nitrogen oxides into the upper troposphere, form contrails, and seed cirrus clouds with aerosols from fuel combustion. These three effects enhance warming in the short term.

In today’s world, we are still socially rewarded for burning fossil fuels. We equate frequent flying with success; we rack up our “miles.”

This is backward: Burning fossil fuels does real harm to the biosphere, to our children, and to countless generations — and it should, therefore, be regarded as socially unacceptable.
