Sad to hear that Noah Gibbs passed away suddenly. He was wise and empathetic, and I wish I’d got to know him better. Rest in peace.

Noah Gibbs has passed away.

Noah was:

* A member of the YJIT team.
* The author of "Rebuilding Rails"
* The creator of the Rails Ruby Bench.

Noah's passing was sudden and very fast. He did not suffer. He is survived by his wife and children.

Noah's wife has asked me to collect stories about Noah for the benefit of his children. Please leave a comment or share here: https://forms.gle/zxzsXkSdun1ahSqE6

I’m very sad to hear about the passing of Noah Gibbs @codefolio
He was always so generous with his time and feedback
Rest in peace @codefolio 😭

So much of my job is this over and over again on a loop:

"So what do you think we should do in order to responsibly build the Torment Nexus?"

"You can't. It's a Torment Nexus. Stop it."

"But the Torment Nexus is inevitable!"

"It's not. You could just not do it. You could stop right now."

Do you know an app that disabled Puma's request queuing i.e. `queue_requests false` ? If so, do you know why they disabled it?

I'm wondering if we could remove that configuration/codepath. I know people use it, but usually because of some secondary effect it has on the system. So i'm looking for (all) reasons people disable it to better understand.

Please repost for reach

I think we should leave it to the states to decide whether they want to be destroyed by weather.

As it turns out, women leaders are not likely to act based on their emotion, but men are. Study (N=137) finds women leaders had low levels of abusive supervision regardless of their anxiety. Men leaders engaged in more abusive supervision (being rude, ridiculing, yelling at, or lying to their reports) when their anxiety was higher. https://hbr.org/2024/09/research-how-anxiety-shapes-mens-and-womens-leadership-differently
Research: How Anxiety Shapes Men’s and Women’s Leadership Differently

One of the oldest erroneous gender stereotypes is that women are too emotional to be effective leaders, especially in uncertain times. Contrary to this belief, research on 137 leader-report pairs in Europe during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic indicates that women may actually be less likely to let their emotions negatively influence their leadership behaviors compared to men. During this time, women leaders reported higher anxiety levels but did not translate these emotions into abusive behaviors, unlike their male counterparts who exhibited more hostile supervision when anxious. Women typically engaged in family-supportive behaviors regardless of their emotional state. The research emphasizes the importance of recognizing the unique strengths women bring to leadership roles, especially their capacity to lead compassionately and prioritize others, but also notes that caring leadership behaviors are evaluated differently based on the gender of the leader. The study calls for more inclusive research that addresses diverse gender identities and cultural contexts.
