Today was ... interesting. If you followed me for the past months over on the shitbird site, you might have seen a bunch of angry German words, lots of graphs, and the occassional news paper, radio, or TV snippet with yours truely. Let me explain.
In Austria, inflation is way above the EU average. There's no end in sight. This is especially true for basic needs like energy and food.
Our government stated in May that they'd build a food price database together with the big grocery chains. But..
@tehstu some of them have some sort of bug that prevents booting after a Windows update (I haven't put Linux on it, not sure if it's affected) and you have to remove the power cable for 30s or so before it'll come back up. You can find discussions about this in their forum.
I've also noticed that my wireless USB keyboard/mouse dongle gets very hot, which doesn't happen on other machines.
I still like them for the low cost, I'd buy another one if I could get a newer model without the boot bug.
This is a warning about Meta and Threads.
Please boost this here and outside of Mastodon so that pregnant people in the United States are informed that using Meta/Threads is dangerous.
I'm unlikely to get pregnant but I have ZERO presence on Meta/Facebook/Instagram/Threads as a matter of principle.
