Enjoying connecting with people here. I'm interested in history, science, art, archaeology, farming, linguistics, justice work, and religion. Copyeditor, quilter, darner, birder, winter lover, pluviophile, night-sky watcher, cloud admirer. She/her. I live in New Jersey.
Large photoA winter sunset, with clouds golden on the undersides and dark on top. Bare trees are silhouetted against the bright clouds.
AvatarMe at the ruins of the other ranks' barracks at an 18th-century British fort in Crown Point, New York.
@Minimus I translated the second sentence on my own! This is much more enjoyable than my college Latin class.
@GottaLaff "reporter," lol
I find my understanding of things is never enriched by reading NYTimes opinion people. They add nothing!
@dabertime I was subpoena'd as a character witness when I was 10.
@CiaraNi Same! It makes me uncomfortable. Maybe because it's kind of salespersonish? They often push for a chumminess that doesn't exist.
People knew two years ago that Biden was going to have two more birthdays and be the age he is now. Why didn't they panic then?
@checkervest One summer I worked for an idle rich woman who, among other things, wanted the soap in her powder room to look new, so I had to clean it. Get those dirty old bubbles off!
@inarticulatequilter I made one, an hourglass/ninepatch, using only fabrics with winter themes: snowflakes, snowmen, mittens, etc. (I avoided Xmas as much as possible). The batting is cotton and I use it in summer to remind me that cooler days are coming. Here's a pic of the flimsy.
@bontchev Google “St. Bernard of Clairvaux” and you get “10 Best St. Bernards of Clairvaux Near You!”
@GottaLaff Also, thank you so much for the work you do here. When I want to know what's going on, I look for your posts.
